Home » WOW!’s Second Fiber Greenfield Initiative: Northern Orange County, FL

WOW! Internet, Cable & Phone has selected the Maitland and Fairview Shores and other areas of northern Orange County, FL as the second market for its Greenfield initiative.

WOW! says that it will invest at least $40 million in the all-IP network and will offer service to more than 40,000 homes. The first WOW! Greenfield initiative market was in Seminole County, FL.

The initiative involves the construction of networks in new areas that are not adjacent to an existing WOW! market. WOW! also serves Pinellas County and Panama City, FL.

Subscribers will have multi-gigabit high speed data, home and business Wi-Fi and WOW!tv+ IP video.

“Our Greenfield initiative is very important to the growth and success of WOW!, which makes this second service area announcement so exciting,” CEO Teresa Elder said in a press release. “Orange County, which sits adjacent to Seminole County, was a clear choice for us to bring our broadband services and we are eager to deliver our exceptional multi-Gig fiber-to-the-home network to communities in both counties.”

WOW! made the Seminole County announcement earlier this month. It said that it will invest $60 million in a network that eventually will pass 60,000 locations.

In early December 2021, the company made a 1 Gbps service available to subscribers in Lansing and Potterville, MI. The press release did not say how many addresses the networks will pass.

WOW! has refashioned itself during the past several months. Early last November, WOW! completed the sale of networks in Chicago, Evansville, IN and Anne Arundel, MD to Astound Broadband for $661 million. In September, WOW! completed the sale of its Cleveland and Columbus, OH service areas to Atlantic Broadband. The two transactions raised $1.8 billion, according to the company.

WOW! passes more than 1.9 million homes, businesses and wholesale customers. The company is active in 14 markets, primarily in the midwest and southeast.
