VFP Inc., a manufacturer of custom-designed enclosures to protect critical infrastructure for telecommunications, public safety radios, data centers, and utility projects, will invest $7.2 million to expand its business in Scott County.

This expansion will enable VFP to produce larger concrete shelters and meet the future needs of the market.

Virginia successfully competed with Missouri and Oklahoma for the project, which will create 30 new jobs.

"Great workers live in southwestern Virginia, and companies like VFP recognize this," Governor Ralph Northam said. "Virginia is promoting manufacturing across the Commonwealth, and we thank VFP for its expansion in Scott County."

Founded in 1965 and headquartered in Roanoke, VFP Inc. is dedicated to developing customized housing solutions for protecting critical components. Each enclosure is designed to withstand various extreme environmental and physical conditions. The company's products include concrete and metal shelters, secure modular data centers, utility control rooms, and fiber-to-the-home cabins, all of which directly support the development of the rural broadband industry.

Today, important utilities, municipalities, broadband providers, and Fortune 500 companies rely on VFP to provide shelters, fences, and huts.

"The expansion of the VFP demonstrates the importance of the infrastructure network, skilled labor and livability provided by the rural areas of the Commonwealth to attract and retain businesses," said Brian Bower, Minister of Commerce and Trade. "For more than half a century, VFP Inc. has flourished in the Commonwealth. This new investment will help ensure its longevity in the coming decades."

"VFP has more than 56 years of outstanding architectural design and manufacturing experience, providing high-quality prefabricated structures for the telecommunications, power, public safety, modular data center, and broadband industries," said Scott File, President of VFP Inc. In the 1990s, Scott County's manufacturing facilities continued to grow and develop. This is mainly due to the loyalty and support of our valued employees. VFP is pleased to be located in Scott County and has available labor and local talent to meet our huge manufacturing needs. We are especially grateful for the support and help provided by local, regional and state agencies over the years. "

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership works with Scott County and the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority to secure the Virginia project. Governor Northam approved a $100,000 grant from the Federal Opportunity Fund to assist Scott County in the project. VFP Inc. is also eligible to receive state benefits from the Virginia Enterprise District Program managed by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Funds and services to support company employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Employment Investment Program.

The Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Bureau approved a $100,000 grant to the Scott County Economic Development Bureau to assist VFP in workforce development and training.

"This expansion in Scott County demonstrates VFP's long-term commitment and partnership here," said Denneman, Chairman of the Scott County Board of Supervisors. "The employment and additional investment announcements are welcome and good news for our county and the region."

"VFP is an outstanding company and an important asset in our region," said Jonathan Belcher, executive director and general counsel of the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority. "The Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Bureau has assisted VFP in several expansions in Scott County, and we are very pleased to be able to provide assistance again in the form of a workforce development and training grant of up to $100,000, which is through the Scott County Economic Development Development Bureau provided by the Bureau."

"VFP, Inc. is a great corporate citizen of Scott County, and we welcome the exciting news that the company is expanding its business scope and creating more high-quality jobs in our region," the state senator Todd Pillion said. "I applaud every member of the team working to make this announcement possible, and I remain committed to supporting plans to use resources to build competitiveness in our region and win these projects."

"This announcement is great news for Scott County, and I thank all the stakeholders who ensured this investment and employment expansion," said Del. Terry G. Kilgore. . "VFP has always been an important partner of Scott County, and this announcement demonstrates that the company is committed to Scott County and southwestern Virginia."
