On Tuesday, Governor Kathy Hochul briefed New Yorkers on the progress of New York State's fight against COVID-19. Hochul confirmed that 83.8% of all New Yorkers 18 years and older have received at least one vaccine, and 75.2% have completed the vaccine series. 71% of eligible New Yorkers received at least one dose of the vaccine.

"New Yorkers are still infected with COVID-19 every day, and the key to ending this pandemic is to increase our vaccination rates," Governor Hochul said. "We are moving mountains to get vaccines into our communities — especially those with low vaccination rates — and the 12 to 17-year-old age group. However, every eligible New Yorker should be vaccinated. This is How will we restore the overall economic development of our country and create prosperity for everyone

Hochul reported that 31 New Yorkers died from COVID, bringing the total number of reported COVID deaths in New York to 56,674. 241 New Yorkers were admitted to the hospital. There are currently 2,363 New Yorkers hospitalized due to COVID, of which 568 are in the ICU and 311 are intubated in the ICU.

She announced that in the past 24 hours, 3.05% of all tests had been positive. The 7-day positive rate is also 2.65%.

The 7-day COVID positive rate in the Hudson Valley is still higher than in the state. The positive rate in Central Hudson was 2.76%. The northern region has the highest COVID positive rate in New York, at 5.50%.
